Objectives:
Gather the experiences of internationally trained Dietitians trying to become licensed to practice dietetics in Canada
Examine the similarities and differences in the licensing process for internationally trained dietitians in Alberta and Ontario, Canada.
Identify both the gaps and successes in the system that internationally trained dietitians must navigate to practice in Canada, and leverage these insights to advocate for systemic changes aimed at eliminating barriers

Summer/Fall 2025: Research team formed and informal focus groups and discussions with internationally trained Dietitians were held. This informed the development of the research question and grant proposals.
Fall 2025: Submitted grant registration to the Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research (CFDR)
Winter 2025: Successful in grant to CFDR and invited to submit full proposal. Submitted ethics application to Acadia University's Research Ethics Board.
Spring 2025: Research approved by Acadia Research Ethics Board. Grant application for CFDR was unsuccessful. Research team reviewed feedback and adjusted project to allow it to move forward without funding.
Summer 2025 - Spring 2026: Survey development and relationship building with stakeholders. Welcomed a new member to the research team.
